Developing a written weekly checklist for house cleaning is one of the best ways to avoid missing any of the necessary chores around the house.
I know this may seem a bit formal - but it really will help the whole family in seeing what needs to be done to keep the house looking tip top throughout the week.
Generally, a weekly checklist for house cleaning can be easily done by breaking the house into separate rooms, then further subdividing into various chores within that room.
In addition - the chart or list can indicate how often the task is to be completed.
For example, under the heading of bedroom, there may be various tasks such as make the bed, pick up the dirty laundry, and straighten the dresser area that is to be completed on a daily basis.
There may also be tasks such as vacuum, dust or mop the floors that will be done on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
The kitchen may also have daily and weekly chores. Usually dishes, cleaning up spills, loading and emptying the dishwasher will need to be done on a daily basis.
Washing the floor, cleaning the oven or stove or cleaning out the fridge may be done on a weekly basis.
An easy way to determine what needs to be done is to actually go and sit in each one of the rooms. Look around and see what needs to be cleaned, and then write it down on the list.
After all the items that need to be cleaned are on the list you can then determine the schedule that each item needs to be completed.
You can also then combine items that are usually done together or in conjunction with each other.
You may also want to think about what tasks or cleaning chores would be appropriate for various members of the household based on their age and ability level.
Spend the time showing your children and family members exactly how to complete the various tasks that they have been assigned.
Asking children what chores they would prefer to complete is often a good way to keep them more involved. Also consider doing fun family events when all the cleaning is done.
House cleaning doesn't have to be difficult or challenging if it is done consistently and on schedule. Consider developing your own personalized weekly checklist for house cleaning to keep your house spotless from top to bottom...
